Dry scrubbing units generally employ activated carbon to remove odours or noxious gasses from an air stream. This is achieved either by a chemical reaction occurring in a bed of impregnated carbon or simple physical adsorption into the porous carbon. The type of carbon will depend on the nature of the odours or gases to be absorbed and sometimes a multi stage system is employed to treat a cocktail of gasses.
A range of standard designs is available but normally they are designed and built as bespoke units for specified duties. They can be simple passive units or supplied as fully automatic systems complete with fans and data recording instrumentation.
The carbon scrubber vessels are fabricated either in metal or plastic depending on the required duty.
